And now!

The present-day HCA building.

The mission of Hinsdale Center for the Arts is to educate, encourage and facilitate participation in the arts. HCA believes the arts are to be celebrated and shared, thereby enriching individual and community life.

Established in 1980, HCA has been serving the residents of DuPage and western Cook counties for over 20 years.  The Center is open all year and offers classes and workshops in dance, drawing, painting, sculpture, music, theatre, and more.

HCA also offers outreach programs and grant opportunities that support arts programs throughout DuPage and western Cook counties.

The distinguished Governor's Award for the Arts was bestowed upon HCA in 1999.  The Governor’s Awards for the Arts is a bi-annual awards ceremony that honors outstanding contributions to the arts and showcases new artistic work commissioned by the Illinois Arts Council.  Every two years, the awards acknowledge those individual artists, arts organizations, businesses/ corporations and communities that have distinguished themselves in the arts.  The arts organization award recognizes a non-profit Illinois organization for exceptional artistic achievement, outstanding programming, or other leadership initiatives that have stimulated excellence, growth and support and/or availability of the arts in Illinois.

In 1996, HCA was designated by the Illinois Arts Council as an "Established Regional Arts Institution."  The Center was one of just forty-four arts organizations in the state of Illinois to be awarded this honor.
